Taking your first steps

At the end of this chapter, you should be able to demonstrate proficiency in scanning technique and scanner operation. This chapter is made up of four steps.

  • Chapter 1: Online training: scanner operation
  • Chapter 2: Practice scanning
  • Chapter 3: Coaching for scan technique
  • Chapter 4: iTero software training

Step 1 — Reinforce training and practice

For those scanning restorative cases:

Restorative Scanning Basics

  • Continue to practice scanning at least two times per day until your scan time is less than 5 minutes.
  • Complete 5-10 more scans to practice and reinforce the takeaways from the live training

Step 2 — Practice using iTero Software

Reinforce Software Training

  • Access and view practice scans utilizing the Viewer Tool and Occlusogram
  • Run the Outcome Simulator and ensure that you know how to adjust the axis lines and tooth numbers if necessary.
  • Save the outcome and share it to your email to understand what the patient will see
  • Run the TimeLapse feature using two patient scans, or the demo cases provided for you (on scanner only)

Step 3 — Learn more about how to use the software in patient conversations

Step 4 – Time to “Talk to your Patients”

Complete 5 more scans to practice and reinforce the takeaways from the live training:

  • All five scanned in less than five minutes

  • Practice educating your “patient,” utilizing software to aid your discussion
